Terms of Use

GIFTIT is made by Thomas Junior Modeste, a sole trader in the United Kingdom. These terms are the agreement between you and him about using the app. Installing or using GIFTIT means you accept them. If you don't accept them, please delete the app.

What you're allowed to do

You get a personal, non-exclusive licence to use GIFTIT on devices you own or control, for your own private purposes. That licence lasts as long as you keep to these terms.

What you may not do: copy, sell, rent or redistribute the app; take it apart, decompile it or try to extract its source code except where the law says you may; use it to break the law or anyone's rights; or interfere with the servers behind it, including trying to reach data that isn't yours.

Your account and your content

GIFTIT works without an account. If you make one, keep it to yourself — anything done through it is treated as done by you.

Everything you put into GIFTIT stays yours. You're granting only what's needed to run the service: storing it, showing it back to you, and showing it to people you've deliberately invited to a shared list. Nothing is published, sold or used for advertising.

A lot of what you enter is about other people — their birthdays, their sizes, your notes about them. You're responsible for that being reasonable to hold. Only add what you'd be comfortable keeping in a notebook.

Things that cost money

One-off purchases

Some features are bought once and kept: the AI gift-ideas unlock, spark packs, and the Secret Santa upgrades. You pay once, and there's nothing further to pay. They're tied to the store account that bought them and can be restored on a new device from inside the app.

Autopilot — an annual subscription

Autopilot costs £9.99 per year in the United Kingdom. The price in your own country is shown in the app before you buy, and that shown price is the one that applies.

For each year you're subscribed, Autopilot watches every occasion for every person on your lists and adds three gift ideas to a person's list fourteen days before each of their occasions, without you asking and without spending a spark.

It renews automatically. Your account is charged for another year within the 24 hours before the current year ends, at the then-current price, unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before that. Payment is taken by Apple or Google when you confirm the purchase.

Cancelling. You cancel through the store, not through GIFTIT — on iPhone, Settings → your name → Subscriptions; on Android, the Play Store → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; Autopilot keeps running until the year you've paid for is up. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.

Refunds

Purchases go through Apple or Google, and so do refunds — we can't issue one directly. Ask Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, or Google through the Play Store. If something genuinely didn't work, write to us and we'll support your request. Nothing here affects your statutory rights under UK consumer law.

Prices changing

Prices can change. If the subscription price goes up, you'll be told before it takes effect and asked to agree, exactly as the store requires. If you don't agree, the subscription simply doesn't renew.

Gift ideas written by AI

When you ask for ideas, the details of that one person are sent to Anthropic's Claude, which writes suggestions back. They're suggestions, nothing more — they can be wrong, unavailable, or badly judged for the person in question. Check anything before you spend money on it. Prices and links shown for a shop's product come from that shop, not from us, and can be out of date.

Shared lists

Inviting someone to a list lets them see and add to it, and claim an idea so two people don't buy the same thing. Only invite people you're happy to show it to. You can remove a collaborator at any time.

Prints

Printed cards are produced and posted by a third-party print partner. What you upload has to be yours to use. Delivery times are estimates.

Availability

GIFTIT is provided as it is. Reasonable care is taken to keep it working, but it isn't promised to be uninterrupted or free of faults, and features can change or be withdrawn. Your own copy of your data lives on your device; a backup depends on services outside our control.

Liability

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited under UK law. Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and total liability for any claim is limited to what you've paid for GIFTIT in the twelve months before it arose.

GIFTIT is for personal use. It isn't sold for business use, and there's no liability for lost profits or business losses.

Ending it

You can stop at any time by deleting your account in the app — which erases everything — and removing the app. We may end this licence if you seriously break these terms, in which case you may no longer use the app. Any unused subscription time is dealt with by the store's refund rules.

Apple and Google

This agreement is between you and Thomas Junior Modeste. Apple and Google aren't parties to it. They have no obligation to provide any support or maintenance for GIFTIT. If the app fails to meet an applicable warranty you may tell Apple, who may refund the purchase price; beyond that refund, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple and Google are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm you aren't in a country subject to a US embargo or on a US restricted-parties list.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and the app will say so the next time you open it. Continuing to use GIFTIT after that means accepting the new terms.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring proceedings in your own country's courts.
